A 1972 2002 in Inka orange, carrying the E39 M5’s 4.9 liter V8, a 6-speed, and 2002 Turbo bodywork. The lightweight classic, massively overpowered, on purpose.
The story.
Inka orange, box flares, and a 4.9 liter V8 where BMW put a four. This 1972 2002 runs the S62 from an E39 M5: high-revving, smooth, with an unmistakable exhaust note, and its 400 horsepower and 369 lb-ft land in a car that weighs next to nothing.
Making that live is the real build. A 6-speed manual and an E36 M3 differential put the power down through a rear subframe and trailing arms designed in-house, S14 M3 front knuckles sharpen the steering, HKS coilovers sit at every corner, and a Wilwood big brake kit reins it all back in. An 11-gallon fuel cell with a surge tank keeps the V8 fed in hard cornering, and a Griffin radiator keeps it cool.
Over it all: 2002 Turbo flares and the Turbo front bumper covering wider wheels and tires, with Recaro seats and a Momo wheel inside. Vintage-race looks, and the pace to back them up.
